Industrial, Chic Wedding at Melrose Knitting Mill in Raleigh with Maggie and David
Maggie & David got married this past March at one of my favorite venues to work at: Melrose Knitting Mill.
Located in Raleigh, the space allows for a more intimate set up for couples who are looking for a warm and private ceremony. The venue is very industrial in ambiance, but when you add in the extravagant florals in the reception space the way that Maggie did, you end up adding additional elegance to the space.
Enough about the venue though, let’s talk the dress. I am a huge supporter of leaving traditions behind and embracing the bride you want to be. Maggie’s dress was just breath taking. The softness of the translucent whites, highlighted by the vibrant blues in the embroidered flowers. It was the centerpiece to every piece of decor at their wedding. I just could not get enough of it. And when you get to the portraits, it was * chef’s kiss * in front of all the brick backgrounds.
What I enjoyed most about this wedding though was the ability to grab more documentary styled shots. Maggie & David wanted to keep everything very intimate, and it was evident how close knit every guest was with one another. There was so much hugging not just between bride and groom and guests, but overall. Documentary photography allows us to the chance to grab these candid moments, a very behind the scenes look into the day. And it often is a more genuine momento compared to the posed portraits that most brides will order.
(But seriously, take a look at the dress, in all it’s glory all over the venue. Sorry, can’t stop smiling at all the portraits of Maggie & David.)
