“When is the right time for newborn photos?”
“When is a baby too old for newborn photos?”
Questions that I feel like many of my clients ask me whenever they reach out for maternity and newborn photos. And although it may seem like there should be an absolute answer, the truth is that newborn photos don’t have to happen the day the baby born or so soon after the birth either!
There is no right or wrong time. Regardless of the when, in that first year, babies are often developing both physically and in their personalities. A newborn session is about capturing these beautiful, intimate moments between two parents and their new addition in a way that showcases these changes that may be so minor but exhibit the way that the baby is coming into themselves.
I’ve had the honor of taking photos of infants a few weeks after their birth, I’ve gotten family photos of growing families with their newborns, and every time the results are different but one thing is easy to see: the way that the baby has come into the world and how they always make the room a little brighter for everyone in it.
These photos of Taylor & Ryan were captured around 6 months post birth and you can still see the same joy and wonder on both the new parents faces and their baby’s. It’s a magical art and I do encourage couples to consider getting newborn photos to remember these moments.
