Low Key Downtown Raleigh Wedding at the NC Museum of Natural Science with David & Megen

After ten years together, David & Megen decided to tie the knot at the NC Museum of Natural Sciences in Downtown Raleigh.

A little about them, they met at Dicks Sporting Goods in Greensboro where they were both employed. And life eventually brought them to Arlington, VA where Megen says they have moved on to bigger and better things. They share two senior pets, Kitty Kapoor and Amelia Pond, and the little family live together in a 100 year old townhouse! As Megen was born and raised in Raleigh, NC, the couple decided to have the wedding in the area as her family is still living here.

David proposed to Megen during a trip to London in May of 2023. And shortly after returning from this trip, they began their search for a photographer!

I always feel that my photos say more about my photography style and in this case, they showed a camera shy couple that I find ways to capture the moment and personality of the people I am working with. Being a wedding photographer, it’s about making sure that the couple I am working with feels like themselves and if they need little bits of posing, that I can find ways to inspire them to do it as naturally as possible.

Which brings me to the venue… getting married at a Natural Science Museum may sound different than the usual pomp and circumstance of what one would expect. But it was such a lovely, low key ceremony. There are actually a variety of spaces at the Museum itself that you can choose from. And depending on the type of background you are looking for, you can have all sorts of dioramas and artifacts from whale skeletons to dinosaurs, and native plants to live butterflies as parts of your day. There is a stunning reception area where afterwards you can have a DINO-mite time with your friends and family on the dance floor! Just look at the dreamy photos below for evidence!
