Romantic Elegant Elopement at Duke Gardens and Duke Chapel with Kasside & Tyler
When they said April showers bring May flowers, they weren’t lying.
Kasside & Tyler had actually booked me for a different day for their April elopement, we had made plans for portraits to be taken at Duke Gardens and Duke Chapel, permits were acquired and outfits were chosen… and then the day of it starts pouring rain.
Luckily, Kasside & Tyler were down for a (literal) raincheck. And boy, did it pay off! Duke Gardens was in full bloom and since Kasside wanted to prioritize the gardens as a background that is where we started our afternoon. The Botanic Gardens is a gem for many North Carolina engagements and wedding portraits because of the variety of landscapes it offers. There are many walkways that offer different bridges and architectural designs. But on top of that there are different arboetums that showcase different plants and fauna. One of my favorite shots that we were able to grab that day was of Kasside and Tyler walking along the pond area, the reflection in the water being of them strolling hand in hand.
We finished up our afternoon at Duke Chapel which offers a romantic and gothic scene for an elegant portrait of the newly married couple. Elopements often are simple and intimate, and a good way for two people to escape the drama and stress of a big wedding. But they should never go without someone capturing that special moment for you. I don’t say this just because I’m a wedding photographer, but because I believe that portraits and photos are a timeless and beautiful way to preserve a moment so that you can share them with future generations and they too can be a part of your celebration of love.
