Outdoorsy, Homestead Family Session with Shannon & Andrew
Rustic Outdoor Backyard Family Session with Shannon and Andrew
Carolyn Scott is the gift who keeps on giving. A lot of you may know that the best compliment you could give a wedding photographer is a patient referral. And Carolyn who allowed me to shoot her son’s wedding a while back, is the reason why I have this amazing opportunity to meet new clients!
Shannon and Andrew and their kids are an outdoorsy family of four who own their own little homestead. What I found most unique about this family session is that the kids enjoyed getting their hands dirty, whether it was by planting and harvesting in the garden or collecting eggs in the chicken coop. These moments allowed for such candid shots of the family being themselves and enjoying their outdoor lifestyle.
I also as a photographer really enjoy getting to know my clients in such an intimate manner. By allowing me into their home, I was able to see the down to earth and creative lifestyle that the family leads. I got to meet the animals they own and got to see the hands on activities they allow their children to partake in. Not every kid gets to say they have their own little chicken coop!
Shannon and Andrew both own an instagram called @FixtheFaucette where they show how they’ve renovated their homestead and teaches cool DIY hacks. They are really big on finding unique ways to use old items in new ways.
Other fun backyard family shoots I’ve recently shot include: this backyard maternity and mommy and me paint sesh! Both of which were just as fun experiences with alternative ways to express the nature of family and love.
