Editorial Fashion Magazine Ralph Lauren Inspired Shoot: Fisherman Core
This styled shoot made my Editorial Fashion Magazine dreams come true!
This series of photos that Lilly so graciously posed for really exemplifies the culture of fashion and how thematic an issue can be. In this case, while we were in Wilmington we stumbled upon a quiet seashore area that we felt would be perfect for us to capture some fisherman core themed photos.
Thankfully we came ready with props and Lilly gave us quite a lot to work with as she posed with the large fishing net and fishing poles. For her outfit, we wanted to draw from traditional fisherman gear but with a modern and prep-like twist. We had Lilly don a net-like mesh top under some overalls which was our chic version of the bibs that were historically worn by fisherman. Her knee-high boots were reminiscent of wellies. And her sweater was a nice burst of color to the mostly white outfit, which quite frankly really brought the scene and model together.
This entire scene from the traditional look with a modern twist to the specific theme and emphasis on the sport of fishing really came together to give us our very own take on the Ralph Lauren styled magazine shoots. What draws us to fashion magazines and editorials are mostly the pictures and the ability to take a look at the creative designs and fashion collections of a certain theme and time. It helps us come up with ways to incorporate the everchanging field of fashion with our day to day style. It’s a way of storytelling and is home to such a creative process that often leaves readers thinking “huh, I think I could be a bad ass fisherwoman too!”.
