Romantic Tobacco Trail Greenway Engagement in Durham with Sarah & Brighton
Sarah & Brighton met as members of the drumline at UNC Chapel Hill and have been dating for over 8 years! They share a love for music, movies, and boardgames. And they both get easily sunburned (something they shared with me on the “get to know you” questionnaire that I have couples answer and made me laugh out loud).
Sarah is an Emergency Room Nurse and Brighton works as a news director for a local station in Chapel Hill. And the two live with their two kittens, Enya and Laszlo.
For this engagement shoot, they wanted to have an outdoor and natural background so they settled on the Tobacco Trail located near their place. What’s even more unique about this engagement session is that they decided to make an afternoon of it before their date night concert at Kings.
Thankfully, the lighting and weather cooperated with us. But I found it very sweet when Brighton took the time to go out and snap a few photos on his own camera the day before the session to make sure that their photos would still be perfect with the moody atmosphere that is Fall in NC.
I really loved the moodiness of the background that brought to attention the romance and liveliness of the couple in the foreground. The two of them were spinning and dancing around in the middle of the greenway and being so present with each other, that I felt like an intruder lurking by as I snapped these photos. You can even feel the intimacy as you look through their gallery and each moment feels so private and cozy.
As a Wolfpack fan, I was kind enough to allow them to capture a few photos that incorpoated their alma mater. (I’m totally kidding, I love when people want to incorporate pieces of their life like their school or favorite sports team.) So I had them sit on the lawn and pop some champagne and we got a few cute picnic at dusk shots with their UNC Champagne flutes.
I can’t wait to see what their 2025 wedding will hold at The Hartwood in Selma, NC and wish them all the best with wedding planning!
