Downtown Raleigh Wedding at Melrose Knitting Mill & Longleaf Hotel with Laura & Dan
You can never go wrong with a Winter Wedding in Downtown Raleigh. Not only is it never that cold in North Carolina but the colors last longer than one might think. Laura and Dan traveled down to Raleigh to get married at Melrose Knitting Mill and the coolest mid-century modern hotel, The Longleaf. Their wedding day was filled with laughter, love, and pizza. These two have been in one another’s lives for such a long time, Laura rooming with Dan’s sister in college and eventually following for one another.
Laura and Dan exchanged gifts for their first look. She got him cuff links with their dog on it and he gave her a necklace with her birthstone. After a few photos they headed back into the bar at the Longleaf to have a cheers with their friends and settle the nerves before the big ceremony. What’s also crazy and very small world moment is that when I was chatting with Dan we discovered that our families are both from the same small city in New York which gave us a great connection going into the photo portion of the day. One of the photos they knew they wanted was near the train tracks because of all the time they would spend at train stations when they were long distance.
These two shared a simple, heartfelt ceremony before heading downstairs to Mulino to celebrate with family and dance the night way.

Seriously, first looks allow you to get all those photos done beforehand so you actually get to spend time with the people that matter the most. Also if you find first looks cheesy, I’m currently looking for a word that means “get all the photos done before” without making it a big deal. A ton of couples are opting to just get ready together which is always a win in my book.
After cocktail hour their family shared toasts, drinks, family style meal, before cutting it up on the dance floor, eating delicious desserts, Oh and did I mention there was late night pizza! Def scroll to the end - you won’t want to miss it!
