High School Senior Photos at Forest Theatre Chapel Hill with Mars
As a photographer, it is very important to me that I allow for a safe space for my clients to express themselves and that I am inclusive as a person and professional. When Mars reached out to me about their senior portraits, they told me that they felt that my work resonated with them. They shared their inspiration with me and had me look into an artist, telling me that they wanted a dark forest vibe with abandoned areas/overgrown structures. We immediately went to work to find an area that gave this sort of dark, moody vibe and settled on the Forest Theater in Chapel Hill.
If you know my work well, you know that I tend to enjoy working with that dark vibe. Something about it is inspiring for my work and it’s definitely different from the airy vibes that most photographers go for nowadays.
For Mar’s shot, it was important to me to follow their lead in what they wanted from their portraits. Often times, I ask my clients to share with me their mood boards or similar shots that spoke to them that they would like recreated. However, Mars was very on top of it and they had come prepared with the types of shots they would like and I took the time to study it and figure out the kinds of angles and framing that would make Mars’s photos feel like them. This extra work is so important to perform because you go in knowing the client well and it makes working together more fluid and productive. I want my clients to leave knowing that they got exactly what they expected and paid for, whether it is a senior portrait, engagement session, couples session, or wedding.
