Cozy In Home Engagement with Michael & Emily at his Downtown Durham Bungalow
This engagement session with Michael & Emily was the most down to earth and colorful event that I’ll never get over. Michael’s Downtown Durham Bungalow was such an energetic background for this fun loving couple. I mean they were literally having tickle fights and dancing around the living room at times, and I didn’t have to prompt them to have fun, they were just doing it. And don’t even get me started on their furry pets, which include the 2 most precious kitties and 1 extremely loving rabbit! All in all, from spinning each other around in their front yard to showing me their movie and book collection in the office, there was just so much of themselves they were able to share with me in our little session.
When you think of your traditional engagement shoots, most people think of dressing to the nines and doing some fancy posing on the beach or in a garden. But engagement shoots like this where the background is your own space and home always make for such a beautiful time.
Not only are they cozy and comfortable, but you also just feel whole and at one with who you are as a unit and couple. It also opens the door for some intimacy in the photos and some pretty genuine shots because it’s where you feel most at home and like yourself. This space is your home, your bubble. So there isn’t a need for the photographer to tell you how to fill that space and pose because it is where you both act the most natural and have the most genuine of interactions with one another.
