Music Artist Branding Session with Megg Jacobs at The Fruit in Durham
Growing up in the music industry, I know how hard it is to be an indie musician. I actually wrote my senior project on home recording in 2009, when that was a new thing, and I remember interviewing the local band, The Rosebuds. But as technology has changed music has become much more accessible. And as such, my awesome friend Megg, has been writing and recording her own hardcore songs and they kick so much ass!
As a North Carolina Photographer who specializes in branding photography, I have had the honor of working with new and rising artists in the area in art, music, and more. I’ve also dabbled in some corporate branding shoots and helped entrepreneurs in the area grab their headshots.
But what is the most fun is when I do a shoot like this one with Megg Jacobs, where there is just so much creativity being emanated from the artist, where we have to collabroate in order to capture the true essence of their project.
This metal core project by Megg is her debut as a solo artist. And it was such a blast bringing her vision to life at The Fruit in Durham. As you can tell we definitely keyed in on the frilly, pink, feminine aesthetics that are often matched to womanhood, but then twisted the background to be more dark, grungy for the metalcore vibes of her album. It came together to emphasize Megg being a female artist diving into the world of metal music. You can be pretty in pink and be screaming lyrics like “always unsatisfied corruption kills you nice and slow” and live your metalcore dreams!
For some of her music you should definitely find her on any of the music streaming services!
