Halloween BOO-doir
For my gals and ghouls who want a body positive experience, I want to take a second to talk about the art of boudoir!
First off, I love a good theme, and for this shoot we took Boo-doir to a fang-tastic new level. These ladies were absolutely brew-tiful with their bum(pkins) on display in their sexy black lingerie. And the results are such an eerie-sistable treat!
Okay… now that I’ve gotten the fun puns out of the way, let’s talk “why boudoir?”
Boudoir photography is a celebration of oneself. It emphasizes on self-love and body positivity. The goal and overall feeling you should have at the end of any boudoir shoot is empowerment. You should leave feeling like your best self, and more confident than when you came in.
Many people are afraid of taking the risk and signing up for boudoir because it definitely is a test of getting out of your comfort zone. But the truth is, the entirety of the shoot is something that you control. You don’t have to come in and already be ready to flaunt it in nude. Just like you can make an oversized tshirt just as sexy as an all black lingerie set. The right photographer will know how to make sure that you feel comfortable and give you the right pep talks throughout the shoot so that you feel and know how gorgeous you really are and can easily let loose as you go!
The most important trait a boudoir photographer should have is the ability to be collaborative. They’ll easily be able to communicate with you what poses might work and you should feel safe to make that pose your own. But something else you should also look into is their photography style. The market is oversaturated with light, airy shots of women, but I’m here to tell you that boudoir can also be dark and catered to other themes. In recent memory, I’ve done an American Beauty themed and pool side boudoir shoots. Both of which were huge hits!
At the end of the day, boudoir is definitely something that I feel all women and even men should experience. It is a way to get in tune with yourself and your body and you have lasting proof of just how beautiful you are!
