I’m honestly surprised it took me this long to get into politics. Truly. Like, when I was only a few years old I would force my mother to sit down in front of the television and watch the State of the Union. I was always watching CourtTV with my grandmarents, and keeping up with current affairs. I even went to DC to “Rock against Bush” and aided my friends in the Occupy protests.

But somehow in my six years of photography I’ve never been asked to take political portraits until this year and I’m here for it! Danny is running for City Council in Carrboro. This entire session reminded me of one of my favorite television shows “Parks and Recreation.” I could even hear the theme song playing in my head as we walked around and cooked burgers (not from Food and Stuff we promise)

I can’t wait for his official announcement and to watch his political career thrive. Don’t forget to VOTE not only in our presidential elections, but local and state elections because those are the real change makers.
